How cheap can a Tanzania safari really be?
Our cheapest multi-day safaris start at $700 per person for a 2-day group trip with park fees, a 4×4, a guide, meals and budget accommodation included. Day trips start at $50. The biggest cost is the park fee, which is fixed, so the real way to pay less is to share a vehicle, camp instead of lodge, or travel in the March–May green season.
Are cheap safaris lower quality?
No. You use the same parks, the same pop-up-roof 4×4 and the same licensed guides as a luxury trip. The difference is accommodation and group size, not the wildlife. The only price to avoid is one too low to cover the park gate fee — that’s where corners get cut.
What’s included in the price?
A 4×4 with a pop-up roof, a licensed guide, national park entry fees, accommodation, meals as listed, drinking water, and pickup and drop-off. International flights, the Tanzania visa, tips and optional extras such as a balloon ride are not included.
How do group safaris cut the cost?
The vehicle, fuel and guide are charged per trip, not per person. Join a group of four to six travellers and those costs split, so each person pays far less than on a private safari — with the same game drives and meals.
Is it safe to book direct with a local operator?
Yes, when they’re licensed and registered. We’re 100% Tanzanian-owned, based in Moshi, and a member of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), affiliated with ATTA and ASTA. Booking direct usually costs less than a foreign agent because there’s no middleman markup.
